The lush greenery, shifting skies, and unusual forms found in Montréal’s Parc Frédérick Back serve as a sounding board for kinetic meditations and entanglements in “Forward Back.” With movement inspired by and adapted from Merce Cunningham’s iconic dance “50 Looks,” a group of dancers move together through a vast landscape seemingly plucked from an alternate future. From spare, sculptural postures to frenetic gestures and acrobatic pairings, an unspoken drama dances across time and space to evoke a constant state of regeneration within the ever-presence of nature.
