In addition to presenting the award-winning San Francisco Dance Film Festival, DFSF’s year-round activities include special screenings, panels, and filmmaking workshops. Through our touring and outreach programs, we send highlight reels to international screens and dance media into local schools. DFSF also produces original dance films through our Co-Laboratory program, matching top choreographers with professional filmmakers and creating the time, space, and budget for them to collaborate.

15 YEARS OF DANCE FILM. Reflecting on the past 15 years inspires us to make big plans for the next 15. Contrasting our first festival (screenings in a humble basement) against this year (screenings at historic theaters across SF reaching thousands of audience members) leads us to say we are beyond excited about what’s yet to come. To realize our ambitious vision, we need your support. Please make a donation to Dance Film SF to secure 15 more years of reframing dance! Your tax-deductible gift of any amount will support the formidable undertaking of producing and presenting powerful dance films throughout our next chapter — DONATE TODAY!

“Dance film changed my life. As a kid in Virginia, I discovered a box of VHS tapes—Great Performances on PBS, Alvin Ailey, West Side Story, and documentaries about George Balanchine and his dancers—that showed me a world I could only dream of. That spark led me to dance and, ultimately, to this moment.”
