World Premiere — Ballet dancer Than Povi Martinez, a Native American and San Ildefonso Pueblo member, confronts pain and self-doubt in “Healing Wounds & Painting the Skies,” In a moving portrait of tradition, devotion, and self-discovery, she speaks her heart on what it’s like to be a brown dancer in a predominantly white field. She hearkens back to her ancestors and reaches out to her community to find the strength to flourish independently by maintaining a connection to tradition and the loving beauty it brings to her life.
