“Summer” is a short dance film shot in downtown San Francisco that juxtaposes the wind, sunshine, and clouds of summer with the hot, industrial environment of a city to explore the human relationship to the seasons in the 21st century. Ten dancers sail through Robin Dekkers’ athletic contemporary ballet choreography to composer Anna Meredith’s rendition of Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Urban and natural elements merge in the energetic flow of languid pairings, virtuosic solos, and swirling group dances.
